H ONOUR ROLL   FOR   MYSORE LANCERS ( INCLUDING   JODHPUR, BHAVANAGAR AND KASHMIR   LANCERS IN THE GROUP) “Honour Roll” is the listing of the names of those admired, respected for something they have done, may be like service, sports, examinations etc.,. But, most often in public places, the soldiers who gave their lives, in war, police action, peace keeping operations, are put in honour rolls, which fact is recorded and commemorated generally, in an engraved listing individually or in a group, in a memorial. It has names of all, from a soldier to a General, who lost their lives in fighting for their country. It mentions the gallantry awards he won etc.,. Records in the Roll of Honour database contain the name, service number, unit and the date of death of each person. Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC)

Generally, the War   Cemeteries and    Memorials are   constructed and     maintained by the city municipal authorities, or the army authorities as the case may be, in India.   The one common authority in the world,   which builds, maintains and respects the war dead , in many memorials throughout the world, and maintain excellent database for each site, is the inter- governamental   organisation called Commonweath War Graves Commission, abbreviated CWGC. (www.cwgc.org). Its earlier name was Imperial War Graves Commission (IWGC) with Sir Fabian Ware as its Director. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) honours the 1.7 million men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died in the First and Second World Wars, and ensures they will never be forgotten. Lt. Col. B.Chamaraje Urs (WW 1)

Regimentdar (Lieutenant-Colonel) B. Chamaraje Urs ,  Mysore Imperial Service Lancers Lt. Col.  B. Chamaraje  Urs, "Sirdar Bahadur"   began in March 1890 as Jamadar, in Mysore Lancers, and   had rapid promotions. In May 1905 was permanently appointed Commandant of the Imperial   Service troops. He was presented valuable Khillats by His   Highness the Maharaja in open durbar in recognition of his services   in connection with the visit of H. R. H. the Prince of Wales and   Princess of Wales in 1906. He  moved to   Egypt in October 1914 in command of the Mysore Imperial Service Lancers. Relating to his services in Egypt,   Major-General W. A. Vatson, Commanding Line of Communication Defences, writing to Chamaraja Urs on 27th March 1916   said : -" From the moment when the brigade was concentrated at   Deolali seventeen months ago, it was evident to me that your   regiment was imbued with a splendid military ...

Col. J. Desaraj Urs (WW1)

   Col. Jagirdar Desaraj Urs , CIE ,MVO was born on 12 th Nov 1862, son of Puttu Desaraj Urs of Balekere, later adopted by Sardar Desi Devaraj Urs of Bagle.Educated at Royal School, and  London Mission High school., at Mysore. Was Military Attache (1884), attached to 3 rd Madras Light Cavalry, served in Burma Campaign (1886), Promoted as Subedar (1888), ADC to Maharaja(1887-94), became Commandant Mysore Imperial Service Lancers (1894-1916), ADC to Maharani (1894 -1902). Married Maharajakumari Krishnajammanni on 20 th April 1896. Received India GSM with Burma Clasp (1889), Delhi Durbar medals (1903, 11), Prince of Wales Visit Medal (1906). Maharajkumari Krishnajammanni passed awy on 22 nd Nov 1904, due to Tuberculosis, leaving behind a son and three daughters. In her memory, the first Sanatorium was built at Mysore.
